Things aren’t so happy in the already dreary world of Claymore.  The Organization is sacrificing warriors left and right, all for the sake of an experiment that quickly goes sour.  Talk about an epic fail.  And these guys are so cold!  Is even a separate tear shed for any of the Claymores?  Heck no! The Organization just goes out and finds someone else to fill those steely shoes.  There isn’t any job defense in these ranks.

It took a couple of chapters to get to what I was really interested in - the fate of Clare and the other warriors who were sent to Pieta.  To die.  No need to distress about pesky year end bonuses with a job description like that.  Glad that my company has a teeny bit more

compassion.  At least the girls had prescription coverage, and it came in handy in the cold, cold North, even whether they did have to resort to pill-splitting.  With barely a hope for survival, Miria manages to cook up a plan to try to save some of the 24.  She considers it a failure when only seven of them survive, but considering the circumstances, she was lucky that anyone lived at all.

This volume was crammed with fast-pacing and break-neck action, with lots of yoma battles, but there were plus lulls to delve into the Organization in an attempt to see what makes them tick.  Bursting at the seams with icily emotionless men, I have to wonder what their ultimate goal is.  They seem to be creating more problems than they are stopping, as one of their experiments unleashes yet another Awakened One upon the helpless masses.  Somebody needs to put an end to them before they have another miscalculation that has even more dire consequences.  Hmmm…will it be Clare and her group of “dead” companions?
